Where is Cedarhurst Long Island?

The Village of Cedarhurst is located in an area of Nassau County known as the Five Towns. It is on the ‘South Shore.’ If you drive ten minutes South from Cedarhurst, you will arrive at the Atlantic Ocean! On a map, it is 16 miles from mid-town Manhattan. By train, take the LIRR Long Island Rail Road via the Far Rockaway branch and get out at Cedarhurst. The trip takes approximately 48 minutes from Penn Station. The studio is a five minute walk from the train platform. Cedarhurst is a shopping village with ample parking available in multiple municipal parking lots.

Hello! I am Ellen Wolff, a destination studio photographer located adjacent to the shopping disctrict in the Village of Cedarhurst. Cedarhurst is approximately 17 miles from mid-town, I always expect it to take over an hour with today’s traffic! When I say “destination” it is because the majority of my clients drive about one hour for a headshot session with me. I am also location specialist. All of the photography equipment I use is fully portable. It packs right up and I am able to easily travel to your offices with everything I need to recreate the studio and photograph your groups and individuals. At the home based "Studio 508," you’ll have the advantages of additional backgrounds, lighting set ups, including natural light. I am a six minute walk from the Cedarhurst, LIRR train station [Far Rockaway Branch]. If driving, there is plenty of metered municipal parking adjacent to the building. I often go into NYC and drive out East for clients.

Headshot Rates in Cedarhurst, Long Island, Nassau, Suffolk County and New York City

BASIC SESSION The basic session has no time limit. If the goal is one or 2 headshots, we can get it done in one hour. If you need more variety, expect your session to take up to 2.5 hours. This is a custom, studio headshot session. From posing, expression and image selection, you will be guided every step of the way. My number one goal is to create headshots that you will be very confident using. I promise you will end up with headshots that project: intelligence, warmth, approachability, confidence, and either a fun or conservative vibe, or both. That part is up to you! Each delivered final photo will be cropped for all of your different needs. Some of the most basic uses are: website landing page, about me page, company website or directory, LinkedIn and other social media. More headshot uses include: author portrait, business card, press release, newsletter, speakers bureau, and general publicity headshot. You will be able to select your photos at the session. Wardrobe changes are encouraged in order to yield multiple photos. Several lighting set-ups and backgrounds will be used. All headshots are purchased a la cart. The price to reserve your time and date: 195.
A LA CARTE Purchase all of the headshots you want. Each headshot includes best day retouching. The a la carte headshots price is: 190. Buy more, save more bundles, are available in sets of 5 and 10, or more.
THEATRICAL PROFESSIONALS Expect to be here up to 4 hours. If you are looking for a range of photos, this session will yield an extensive variety of headshots. Five to six wardrobe changes is encouraged. I will use multiple background and lighting set-ups to maximize the range of looks. In addition, the outdoors has 2 general atmospheres: nondescript suburban greenery and trees, and a slightly urban vibe. Six retouched photos and 30, un-retouched outtakes are included. Session fee: 750.
RETOUCHING, Special request retouching on headshots: 50 per headshot.
GROUP RATE I can travel to your place of business anywhere in the New York metropolitan area. Location set-up fee is 150. I bring a back drop or we can use the environment. All of the equipment I need to create the same service offered in the studio is brought on-location. There is generally enough time for guided on-site selection of headshots. Otherwise a gallery is provided. Click here to request an estimate. Alternatively, for small companies or new hires, individuals can schedule staggered sessions at the studio, and I will match the headshots to your current website.
LOCATION The minimum charge to go on-location is 600. and includes a deliverable. This applies to all clients: individuals and groups.
PROFESSIONAL MAKE UP For an additional fee a make-up artist can come to your session or you can make an appointment to see her at the salon before your session. The salon is approximately a mile away.
PROFESSIONAL HAIR STYLING An optional add-on that will elevate a good headshot to a great headshot is professional hairstyling, or a blow-out. I can recommend a local salon, one mile away, that has several stylists and an excellent colorist.

How to book a headshot session

All sessions require a non-refundable payment of 195. and a signed agreement. The payment covers your studio time. This payment may be transferred to another date if I am notified 48 hours before your session. Every session includes a thirty minute consult - this is an important first step in the process. Once a date and time is set, I will send out an agreement, create a payment link for the non-refundable payment, and schedule your consult.

I am fully vaccinated. Also, I am a certified Covid Officer, unless you are fully vaccinated, temperature checks and pulse oximeter will be used upon entry. A mask may be required to enter the building and use the elevator. You will not wear a mask on set. [4/2025 currently inactive, subject to changing requirements.]
