Interview

Interview: Dr. Stefanie Wolf

Ellen - Can you tell us why you came in for a headshot?
Stefanie - New website, new look. We came in to update headshots for our new website.

Ellen - How did you find out about Ellen Wolff Photography/Long Island New York Headshots?
Stefanie - Good old fashioned google! Loved Ellen's work and had a feeling it would be the right fit.

Ellen - Tell us something you want us to know about what you do.
Stefanie - Our sense of hearing connects us to individuals and the world around us, we work with those with hearing loss and help them to achieve their best hearing possible which hopefully will improve their quality of life.

Ellen - What has led up to your most recent project?
Stefanie - Our recent project is an ongoing initiative to educate physicians about the comorbidities that often increase the prevalence of hearing loss and the risks of untreated hearing impairment. Depression, cognitive decline and social isolation are only a number of consequences of unaddressed hearing loss.  Physicians should be encouraging patients to schedule hearing evaluations as they would with any other specialty heath care service.

Ellen - What's the best part about the next thing you're doing?
Stefanie - The best part about the next thing that I am doing is being able to help the next patient with their ability to hear, communicate, interact and improve the quality of their life.

Ellen - What was the last book you read for fun?
Stefanie - Still working my way through the Outlander series. I am currently half way through book three and I may possibly be reading the books for the rest of my life... but they are sooooo good!

Interview: Shannon Pallen

Ellen - How did you find out about Ellen Wolff Photography/Long Island New York Headshots?
Shannon - Actually I found Ellen Wolff Photography when my husband needed a head shot and of course had no time, and wanted somebody great. I really did pour through many websites and pictures until I came across Ellen’s work.

Ellen - Can you tell us why you came in for a headshot?
Shannon - All professionals  should have a head shot. The problem is we don’t take them until we NEED one. I needed one for my Linkedin and also applied with some companies that asked for a photo. First impressions matter. Nobody wants to see my selfie from New Years Eve!

Ellen - Tell us something you want us to know about what you do, something most folks don't ask and you wish they would.
Shannon - I love managing events, all events, from fun weddings to corporate meetings to more serious causes. I love the beginning, middle to the end. I think when most people talk about event they like to talk about all the success stories. I like to talk about the naughty or mishaps, the rain-outs. Mostly because there is always a solution, sometimes the solutions are just more complicated to get to.

Ellen - Do you have a favorite breakfast?
Shannon - I LOVE eggs! Any way I can get them.

Ellen - Red or white?
Shannon - Red when I'm cold, white when its hot, and beer when I work in the garden.

Ellen - What has led up to your most recent project?
Shannon - Talking and making friends everywhere I go! Talking to the bellman to the general manager of a 2000 room hotel in just the same way. The truth is i will get more use out of the bellman when I work. Tomorrow evening I will be loading up 50 people for a sunset cruise on an air balloon over breathtaking Albuquerque  NM.

Ellen - What's the best part about the next thing you're doing?
Shannon - My project next week is an Earth Fair. I think it is very important in life for people to get involved. Maybe make up for some sins!

Ellen - What was the last book you read for fun?
Shannon - A Chelsea Handler book. Life is too dramatic to be reading it!

Ellen - If I gave you a check for ten million dollars what would you do with it?
Shannon - It sounds so phony, but the truth is I would start a charity foundation. It would encompass all my passion. I would however wear the most beautiful pant suits to work!!! Oh and of course hire the BEST photographer to shoot my good side at all my events!

Ellen - Where can we find out more about you?
Shannon - I can be found on LinkedIn.

Interview: Dr. Bilich

I am so excited to publish my first interview on the blog at Long Island New York Headshots: Professional headshots for professional people. Dr. Bilich is such an interesting woman. I was fascinated to learn about "tapping" I knew nothing about this. I learned so much from her in the short time she was here for a headshot.  Continue reading to learn more.

Can you tell us why you came in for a headshot? How did you find out about EllenWolffPhotography?

I needed a headshot for various professional reasons--to send out to media and conference coordinators when they asked for a photo, to use on my website and Linkedin, to use on the cover of a book I am working on. I found out about Ellen Wolff Photography through an internet search. I called, liked what I heard and booked an appointment.

Where can we find out more about you? Do you have online resources or a website? How do people find out about you?

I am a clinical psychologist.  I recently threw out my old website and started over. The new website - MarionBilich.com is still under construction, but I've completed enough for people to get a flavor of what I'm going to do.  It's a great starting point for people interested in learning about the benefits of energy psychology and about learning to listen to their own inner wisdom instead of always relying on outside authorities. My resource section is almost complete and I will be adding various videos I'm creating to help people understand the basic concepts of energy psychology.

Tell us something you want us to know about what you do, something most folks don't ask and you wish they would. A special skill you have...

I have the ability to take difficult psychological and scientific concepts and explain them in ways that make sense to people who don't have a background in those areas.  I've been doing this for years with my writing, but have begun learning how to use video to explain these ideas.

What has led up to your most recent project?

I decided I wanted to learn how to create videos so I could introduce a wider audience than I can reach in my private practice to an exciting new field called "energy psychology"  Using the techniques of one type of energy psychology, called "Emotional Freedom Technique" (EFT), I have watched people overcome problems they have been struggling with for years in just a few sessions.  What I love about these techniques is that, once learned, they are easy to do on your own. They are empowering.

What's the best part about the next thing you're doing?

I am at a stage in my life where I don't have to work for a living.  I'm semi-retired. So I can just explore the things I love. One of the things I love is educating people about psychology and spirituality and another love is creating video.  So I am combining the two together.  Pure joy!

What was the last book you read for fun?

I'm always reading a lot of books at the same time. I love Science Fiction and just  finishing  A Fire Upon the Deep by Victor Vinge.  I am also reading Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Come Unstuck by Chip Heath and Dan Heath.  It fascinates me to learn why some ideas just catch on. What is it that makes one idea catch on and another not.

Coffee or tea?

I love good strong coffee.  I'm a bit of a coffee snob--dark roast organic coffee, fresh ground and made in a French press is my coffee of choice. I only drink one cup a day but I savor that cup.
